My ongoing mission is to create a more welcoming therapeutic environment and the most inclusive experience for all by challenging the common preconceived ideas of what therapy is, and introducing what it can actually be.
Therapy can be can be as supportive as it is challenging. It can have either specific focus on symptoms or general focus on self-growth and either be short or long term. As every person is unique, they bring their own circumstances to therapy which often includes a myriad of challenges.
These can be related to difficulties with life transitions, stress management, emotion regulation, challenging relationships and the impact of mental health symptoms.
Within the therapeutic process, I believe it is key to foremost teach the practices of self-love and self-compassion — ultimately working towards life fulfillment.
One aspect of being a therapist I enjoy most is continually meeting new people — giving me the opportunity to work with diverse backgrounds. I enjoy learning about what makes each person unique. I am especially interested in working with neurodiversity and helping those who struggle with symptoms of ADHD and/or autism spectrum disorders.
Another passion of mine is working with anxiety and mood disorders, such as social anxiety, OCD, and depression. I have a strong history working with trauma, substance abuse disorders, and dual diagnosis. No matter what the presenting problem or concern, I find it important to set long term goals of self-improvement and life fulfilment.
I intend to make therapy painless, calming, and something to look forward to. This is done by creating a safe and open space where you can unload all your thoughts, emotions and worries — without the fear of judgement. I have a relaxed but analytical approach to therapy where I view every relationship differently, using an eclectic combination of various techniques to meet individual needs. Building a foundation of trust and honesty in the therapeutic relationship is very valuable, and I am committed to offering this to everyone I work with.
I am educated and informed on culturally competent counseling. That means that regardless of our cultural, social, racial, or ethnic differences, I work towards consistently creating an inclusive environment for clients of all backgrounds.
Cycling around town on the weekends with my partner, in the kitchen cooking up a new recipe while listening to a great indie music mix, reading a thrilling mystery at night, or making dream catchers in my free time.
