MEET KRISTEN
Life can be uncertain and unjust, yet we are tasked with creating our own meaning around painful experiences. I want to help you regain your personal power, find peace with your past, and envision a life of joy and warmth.
While I work with all stressors and mental health struggles, my specialty is trauma — specifically childhood/past traumas, sexual assault, religious trauma, LGBTQ+ related traumas, and grief/loss. I have a background in the arts and often use music, art, and creative self-expression with my clients. I am trained in EMDR therapy and versed in body-brain interventions.
My hope as a therapist is to help others make peace with their past, feel empowered, and live their most authentic and genuine life. I believe that we are tasked with creating our own meaning around life’s experiences, and have the power to heal and grow. I want to help you explore that personal meaning and find empowerment.
There is no “one size fits all” for therapy, and I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches to build a relationship with you. We are a team working together to help your well-being. If you are unsure if therapy or my services are for you, contact me for a free consultation. If I am not the best fit for you, I will help you find another provider.
WHO I HELP?
Do you find yourself re-living the past and dreading the future? Are you struggling to feel at peace? Do you worry that you “feel too much” all the time?
If these questions speak to you, then I may be the right therapist to help. I’ve walked with people through a variety of life stressors but have found that I’m most helpful to those who have experienced trauma, struggle with intrusive anxieties and depression, complex grief and loss, and LGBTQ+ related experiences. I also work with other healthcare and social service professionals to navigate the stressors of working in the “helping professions.”
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
My style of therapy is supportive, non-judgmental, and creative. My hope is to build a relationship with you in which we can safely explore your past, wants and needs, and the things that bring you joy. We are a team working together to help your well-being. Sessions are not always easy or comfortable, but I will strive to make sure that they are a safe and supportive space for you. Sometimes when talking about it is too much, we’ll use other therapeutic ways of processing including art, music, and movement.
When I am not at AMW then you will find me?
Using my free time to bounce from hobby to hobby. I love arts and crafts, making music, cooking, reading, binge-watching a great TV show, and spoiling my dog and cats.
