MEET NICOLE

I am a counseling trainee in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Pittsburgh. My goal as a counselor is to create a space where clients feel safe, comfortable, and able to be open and honest. I believe the relationship between counselor and client is one of the most important parts of the counseling process, and I strive to build that relationship with warmth, authenticity, and respect.
Life can be complicated and challenging, and no one should have to navigate those experiences alone. While counseling often involves meaningful and serious conversations, I also believe that laughter and humor can be powerful tools in the healing process. I try to bring a balance of empathy, curiosity, and occasional humor into the counseling room.
Although I am early in my professional career, I have received extensive training through my graduate coursework and hands-on practice experiences. I am also supervised by Julie Scarpo, which means you benefit from the guidance of both of us throughout the counseling process. I approach counseling with curiosity and openness, and I am not one to shy away from challenges. Whatever you may be facing, I would be honored to work alongside you as we explore ways to move forward.

WHO I HELP?

Clients working with me can expect a collaborative and supportive counseling experience. My approach is culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and grounded in evidence-based practices. I am particularly familiar with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and psychoeducation.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

As a former therapist myself, I apply the non-judgemental supportive approach you can expect from all AMW clinicians. Some of my biggest passions are helping others and staying organized, and my role here at All Minds Welcome is the perfect combination of those qualities.

When I am not at AMW then you will find me?

When I’m not at AMW, you’ll most likely find me in a classroom at Pitt, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, or restarting a sitcom I have watched 10 times already!
